That is how Gannon Rustic Fence describes its own work, and the other half of the line is the promise: you think it, we'll build it. Since 1981 the shop at 34 Cross St. has built privacy runs, picket, post and rail, deer fence, pool enclosures and custom gates for New Canaan homes, parks and ball fields, then come back to repair them.
Customers name the two people who show up: Thomas and Steve. They quote fairly, help with the permit, and customize the run to the property instead of forcing a kit onto it.

The gap in the run
Every fence line has one opening that has to swing true.
A gate carries the weight the rest of the run never feels. We build them to the opening: arched cedar between stone piers, driveway pairs, arbors, pool gates that close on their own. And when an old one starts to drag, Steve is the person customers text.

Ledge a foot down. Stone walls. Yards that fall away.
New Canaan does not hand you flat, soft ground. We step panels down a slope so the top line reads clean, run rock drilling where a post has to land in ledge, and take the old fence out before the new one goes in.

What people ask us first.
Yes. Fairfield County ground is rarely flat and often has ledge a foot down. We step panels down a grade so the top line reads clean, and for commercial and difficult residential jobs we drill rock to set posts where a digger can't go. One customer, Chris Schipper, wrote that we have "a great understanding of the difficult terrain of Fairfield County" and how to solve problems.
We do. Customers have told us that help with the permitting process was one of the reasons they hired us. Every town handles it a little differently, so call the office and we'll talk through what yours asks for before any post goes in.
Every pool enclosure we build strictly follows the pool code. We build them in aluminum, iron, wood, vinyl, chain link and cedar post and rail, and we also build aluminum enclosures with pergolas.
Yes. Repairs are half of what we do: sagging gates, broken rails, leaning posts and storm damage. If the fence is worth saving, we'll tell you. If it isn't, we can take the old run out and put the new one in.
