Ornament fails first at the joints and the finish
An ornamental fence is judged up close. Pickets, arbors and aluminum pale by the door get looked at every day, so the first thing to go wrong is rarely the post, it's a joint that was never set square or a finish coat that skipped a rail. Aluminum sections that don't line up, a gate that doesn't sit flush with its posts, paint that was rolled over dust instead of a cleaned rail: those are the failures a New Canaan front yard shows off, not hides.

The choice usually comes down to what the house and the yard are already doing: a stone-front colonial reads differently in black aluminum than it does behind a white picket run.
Whichever material fits, the gate gets built to match the fence, not bolted on from a stock size after the fact.
A paint job is a specialty, not an afterthought
Paint job is one of our specialties, and it shows in how we treat an ornamental run: cedar gets stained or sealed, iron and aluminum get a finish that holds up to a Connecticut winter, and nothing goes back over the property until the work underneath is clean and professional. We'd rather take the extra pass than hand back a fence that looks unfinished.
